City v Everton (League) – Sat 1st Dec [1v1 draw]

Flew down Saturday morning with Steve, David & Kim, only one other City fan on the plane & didn’t get chance to give him our supporters club card. Please try and pass these cards on to other supporters, that’s what we bought them for – I will make sure I pass them on in future.  It can only strengthen the club !!

Chaos & confusion before the game so didn’t get chance to meet anyone for a pre match pint. I stayed at my sisters overnight and went for the train from Flixton to Oxford Rd with the intentions of meeting Steve, unfortunately when the train arrived the Guard decided that it was full so nobody got on. Fortunately I managed to catch a bus bit later. Meanwhile the trams to Steves hotel were not operating and when he eventually got to the hotel he was told the hotel he had booked was 10 minutes walk away. Always leave plenty of time before matches is the moral of the story.

The match was a typical Everton (of old) dour affair – they scored one & Joe Hart made a couple of decent saves. I think we are now starting to suss Everton out, and can now ruffle their feathers which I thought we did quite well on Saturday, especially Felliani who normally is allowed to boss everything and for David Moyes opinion it was definitely a penalty and so were the other 5 that haven’t been given in previous games against The Toffees.

The crowd reaction to Mancinis substitution of Carlos Tevez was poor, but this time he Definitely did get it wrong, Dzecko is not a good starter and I hope Mancini thinks hard about this – it’s starting to cost points.

Tevez apart there great performances from Gareth Barry and Vincent Kompany is leading from the back really well again, Silva is playing too deep at the moment along with Yaya.

Samir Nasri must be in line for a good game soon – it’s about time!

Not had chance to watch the Rags at Reading yet but if the bottom of the league teams can put four past them in the last few games then we

Should be able to do the same or better on Sunday. Fingers crossed.

A great day out at Chelsea, Kim and I stayed at Travellodge Clapham Junction, ideal location for Chelsea and Fulham matches. We walked from the hotel to Earls Court to meet a few friends before the match. It is just a 10-15 minute walk down to the match from Earls Court, we arrived at the ground with both fans singing loud and proud, the City fans blasted “We are the Champions, Champions of England” and the Chelsea fans replied “We are the Champions, Champions of Europe” – both fans excited and nervous of a massive match ahead.

We got to our seats, 3 rows from the back and in the middle of the City section. We sang loud “Bluemoon”,  “Best Team in the land and all the world”, “Kolo Kolo YaYa YaYa”, “Invisible Man”, “Fat Spanish Waiter”, “Mancini”, “Championeees”, “Stand up for the Champions”.

Great support from City today!!!! The Chelsea fans really showed their disappointment adter the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo and it looks like Benitez is in for a tough ride at the Bridge.

As far as the game goes City dominated possession throughout the match with Chelsea looking to counter when City lost the ball. Some of the top City performers on the day were Zabaleta, Nastasic, Barry, Milner, Silva, Dzeko and Kompany. I have just listed half the team but that was how strong a performance it was!!

An excellent turnout from NES supporters club for tonight’s match Aberdeen and all points South to Edinburgh well represented, especially as so many turned out for the Spurs game less than a fortnight ago – well done.

Good to meet James Jacksons father Keith they are members of the Barrow branch but live in Aberdeenshire, we might get them transferred next season. Keith travelled down on the train with Judith and I.

Heard the news about DiMatteo getting sacked – surprised really, lets hope Chelsea are in chaos when we play them on Sunday.

Lots in this mornings papers about Mourinho shouting the odds – another good reason to beat them tonight.

Oh dear once again City in the Champions League has come to an end far too early. A very poor first half performance was changed into a good second half performance but once again too little too late. Never the less its worth pointing out that on this night 14 years ago we were playing away to Lincoln in the old 3rd division – food for thought – it’s not all bad is it?

 

Bumped into the Andrews family from Carnoustie in the hotel after the match and had a good chat with them until far too late. For some foolish reason I booked an early train home 0745 so it was a very early start and a rush to the station.

Met the Edwards’ from Montrose on the Aberdeen train, they have just joined the supporters club so a big welcome to them. That’s 5 from Montrose now.

Not going to Chelsea but will be in the Highland bar if anyone wants to join me on Sunday afternoon, otherwise I hope to see some of you at the Everton match.

Train to Madrid

Heading down on the train to Madrid match with my wife and just met 2 City fans from Montrose. Strange feeling of excitement for this one, I feel we may already have blown our chances in the Champions League and would rather rest players in week 6 before the United match. I know for certain though that when the names are called up for the starting lineup that i will puff out my chest and sing bluemoon with pride and content knowing that the world is watching.

lets hope we get the three points tonight and Ajax beat Madrid and then it is do or die in Dortmund

City v Spurs (League) – Sun 11th Nov [2v1 win]

Left Aberdeen at 0900 Saturday morning & picked up members at Laurencekirk, Dundee & Edinburgh to make it three short of a full coach.

An 8 hour journey included a 45 minute stop for a meal etc.

An overnight stay in Manchester began by meeting in Weatherspoons Piccadilly at 1900, a couple of drinks later everyone went on their way, some night clubbing others for a meal, finally got to bed at 1am.

Travel bags were transferred in the morning to the coach & then it was off to the Townley for pre-match drinks.

City started well but could not score then on 20 minutes Spurs ran up the field & Caulker scored, helped by a rare Joe Hart fumble & poor refereeing not to say anything about the quality of the linesmen.

It was still 0-1 after a poor 1st half.

City started the second half brightly but it wasn’t until the 66th minute that  scored good work by Yaya and Silva.

City played really from then on despite Spurs changing 3 players.

Nastasic was switched for Maicon & made a big difference as soon as he came on. Dzeko took Tevez’ place and from a half chance once again scored the winner; leaving it until the 88th minute this time.

Gale Clichy took a well deserved Man of the Match Award with Zabaleta not very far behind.

The boys in blue hung on to the final whistle and thereby created a new City Premier

League Record of 32 unbeaten home league games. Brilliant stuff especially for City.

We met up at the Townley after the game & the coach left at 1600 and we were back in Aberdeen for 0030.

It was great meeting everyone again especially those from further away, hope you enjoyed it.

I would like to thank Des for all his efforts in organising the coach – it’s a big responsibility, and also to David & Richard for organising tickets for those who needed them

A tough match against a good Swansea side, Michu had several chances but we kept the clean sheet and got the 3 points thanks to a cracking strike from Tevez.

A great trip in Amsterdam only to be spoiled by the football, a great performance by Ajax and they wanted the result more. A 3v1 defeat that could spell the end of the champions league attempt this year.

The Ajax stadium rocked and so did the City defense but we must now look at improving Premier league performances

Pre-match

Our supporters club are meeting at the Highland Hotel to watch the West Brom v City match.

Hoping for a good turnout today, think we will get about 10 – 15 turning up for this match.

Good to see that the Supporter club networking is starting to bring fans together to watch the matches especially when they are not on SkySports.

It’s the match before the Ajax game and there is much excitement about a trip to Amsterdam midweek. Kim and I fly out on the Tuesday from Edinburgh with a few other blues.

Well onto what will be a difficult match

West Brom have been enjoying the early start of the season leaving most of there fans doing teh boing boing, let’s hope they are not celebrating today.

Injury to Silva and the stunning return of Micah last week may force a few changes to Mancini starting squad.

I’d like to see the following starting line up but these days it’s difficult to leave players out!!

I’m expecting a big match from the blues today and 3 points on the road would be an excellent result and one we must aim for if we are to keep the pace with Chelsea and United.

 

 

Post Match

A great turnout out today, I think just under 20 blues.After Milner was sent off in 20 minutes we feared for the worst! And after city dominating our fears were realised when the Baggies went 1 up.

But then Dzeko came on and banged in 2 cracking goals to secure City the 3 points with goals in the 80th and 90th minute.

We jumped around like we won the title, what a fantastic moment and an amazing result
