City v Villa (League) – Sat 17 Nov [5v0 win]

The age old City problem happened again on Saturday. Fans tend to not turn up for the more unfashionable games which is understandable especially as we have Real Madrid at home 4 days later and the inevitable happens City win 5-0 for the first time this season and it was quite a good game to boot.

I’m sure by now we’ve all heard about the controversial penalty but I don’t believe it changed anything City were in front & even though Aston Villa looked dangerous on the break we looked totally in control of the game. Had the referee not given the penalty for hand ball he might well have given it due to Vincent Kompany being stopped from receiving the cross due to being held back by the centre half – even the BBC missed that but it appears they miss a lot of things these days.

Stephen Ireland was given a standing ovation by the City fans when he was substituted, personally I couldn’t see any reason for the change especially as Villa started loosing heavily once those changes were made, he played a lot better than I’ve seen him play since he left City.

Vincent Kompany seems to be getting back to his great form of last season, Nastasic is a very intelligent player who seems to be settling down slowly but surely, Maicon was always dangerous when going forward, it’s whether he can get back quickly when we are defending

that may be a problem. Samir Nasri is improving from last year which is probably about time, probably the injury spell which Silva suffered has helped give him more confidence. Silva’s presence has made a big difference as well – a Sterling shift by the wee man, and talking about our other ‘wee men’ Tevez & Aguerro seem to be linking-up well & two goals apiece albeit a goal & a penalty each shows they are coming back to form, although Aguerro still isn’t as sharp as he was prior to his injury.

A great Saturday night was had having heard the Chelski score and then the

Canaries were tweeting as well – top of the league – great but if we are still there after the derby match, I might start believing we can do two in a row.

Have a very safe journey if you’re going down to the Real Madrid game, I’ll probably see you there & if you can’t go let’s hope we win anyway.

All the best & CTID

Cheers

Deryck
