City v Chelsea (League) – Sun 25th Feb [2v0 win]

When we beat Chelsea in the Community Shield at the start of the season, I thought we outclassed them and I thought they were very lucky to share the points at the Bridge.

Today we were superb, Joe Hart only had the penalty to save and he managed that very well, overall the defence played really well and another great performance from Kolo Toure.

Even the bar man in the airport bar said both our goals were brilliant which coming from a card carrying Rag is something else. He also pointed out that they have won the league, just agree and patronise them – less painful and it always works.

I couldn’t disagree with City’s MOM choice in James Milner, he is definitely starting to mature this season, he is beating the full back and his mid-field passing is improving with every game.

Yaya was superb and David Silva is working a lot harder off the ball and digging it out for himself – very pleasing. The introduction of Tevez for Rodwell (who put in a good shift ) was probably a game changer, his goal was complete class – he should be on the field every minute of every game in my opinion but is one reason why I’m not the manager.

This quick starting style that City have adopted lately certainly suits them, it’s always dangerous sitting back in the Premiership.

Anyway two happy City fans for the flight home tonight, and yet another great turnout from the Irish supporter clubs today good to see.

I have to miss the Barnsley cup game but will be in the Highland for those who aren’t going to the Etihad, hope to see you then.

C’mon the Blues

City v Liverpool (League) – Sun 3rd Jan [2v2 draw]

Unfortunately my first game of the New Year ends in a draw and I think with this result any chances of winning the Premiership have disappeared. I know we lost it & won it again last season but United were not a good team last season & didn’t deserve to win it.

This season, with the addition of RvP it’s been a kick-up the backside for Rooney and they have Ferdinand & Vidic back – don’t misunderstand me, I still don’t think they are a great team but beating us didn’t help our cause.

Back to yesterday’s game, all 4 goals were crackers for one reason or another and it was quite a good game – shame about the result sort of thing. Milner was brilliant throughout the game – he’s definitely improving this season – better passing than previously. Aguero was superb in the second half – pity his Maradona run didn’t end in a goal, although his goal was brilliantly executed.

Gerrard scores that sort of goal regularly – so why do we on ever put a man on him when he gets in those sort of positions. Sturridges goal, although very well taken should never been allowed, Dzeko was clearly fouled & the referee let play continue. Liverpool are definitely getting the rub of the green with referees again. Yesterday’s referee was appalling.

Anyway enough said, here’s to beating dirty Leeds and winning the Cup again.

All the best

QPR v Man City (League) – Tue 29th Jan [0v0 draw]

It was the first time that Kim and I had been to Lofthus Road and after a late YaYa City winner last year we were hopeful we would get 3 points on the road again,

For those that haven’t been it’s an old school ground, similar to the Cottagein Fulham rom a London club perspective.

One thing I can tell you though is that it is a bugger to get to.

We left Chessington at 6:45 (just 1 hour before kickoff) and got train to Campden town then on to Sheperdb Bush (overround) – may be handy fo folk to know that White Man underground on central line is actually closest station.

Well we had to walk from the station and it took about 20 minutes not helped by the difficulty of finding the Away support on South Africa Road which is surrounded by housing estates,

City dominated the game and it was clear to see that QPR had taken a lesson from the 3v0 defeat against Liverpool in previous week and there main aim was to keep ten behind teh ball at all times.

Chance afetr chance came and we couldn’t put them away, partly down to our mis-firing strikers and largly down to QPR defense including Nelson on his last match and mainly due to the goal keeping pefrormance of Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar – despite taunts that he was just a shit Robert Green!

QPR had a great chance late in the first half but Englands number 1 sprawled well and made a great save.

Both teams had soft penalty decisions and despite Phil Dowd having a terrible game he got this decision right.

We later find out that Mancini has given Mario permisison to sign for Milan, time for Guidetti to step up when ready.

At the end of the day this could be a good point, only time will tell, but that’s 6 matches in 2013 and we aint conceded a goal yet – touches wood!!

Special thanks to Joe Hart and Joleon Lescott for being the only players to come across and clap the fans at the end of the match.
